Ben Guité (born July 17, 1978 in Montréal , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract with HC Pustertal in the Italian A1 series .
Career
The 1.85 m tall center began his career in the team of the University of Maine in the game operations of the NCAA , before he was selected ( drafted ) in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft as 172nd in the seventh round of the Montreal Canadiens .
The right-shooter was never used by the Canadiens in the NHL, however, in 2001 he was finally hired as a free agent by the New York Islanders . There Guité was just as rarely used in the highest North American professional league as in his next two stations, the Anaheim Mighty Ducks and the Boston Bruins . The attacker made his breakthrough with the Colorado Avalanche , which also hired him as a free agent in 2006 and for which he was subsequently regularly on the ice in the NHL. In August 2010, Guité signed a one-year contract with Columbus Blue Jackets . These put him in the farm team at the Springfield Falcons in the American Hockey League . On July 8, 2011, Guité agreed on a one-year contract with the San Jose Sharks . In October 2012 he switched to the Italian Serie A1 , where he signed with HC Pustertal .
