Robert "Rob" Collins (born March 15, 1978 in Peterborough , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who last played from 2014 to 2017 for the Düsseldorfer EG in the German Ice Hockey League .
Career
Collins was never drafted and was signed to the New York Islanders in 2003 . The winger previously played four years in the American Hockey League for the Grand Rapids Griffins . In his only NHL season, 2005/06 , the Canadian was used eight times for the New York Islanders and was able to record a goal and an assist. The rest of the season he played, as in the previous years, for the Islanders' farm team , the Bridgeport Sound Tigers .
In the summer of 2006 Rob Collins moved to Germany to the Düsseldorfer EG , where he made his breakthrough in his first season and ended the season as the top scorer of the Metro Stars. After row one Center Tore Vikingstad moved to the Hannover Scorpions for the 2008/09 season , Collins took over his position in the first block and has played with Patrick Reimer on the right wing since his first DEG season . His contract has since been extended to the end of the 2010/11 season. After five seasons with DEG, Collins decided on a two-year contract with Hamburg Freezers .
In February 2014 he then moved from Brampton to Cologne for the rest of the season in order to strengthen them for the play-offs. For the 2014/15 season , Collins was again committed by the Düsseldorfer EG.
In April 2017 it was announced that Collins and other players would no longer receive a contract.
