Richard Seeley began his career as an ice hockey player in the 1995/96 season with the Powell River Kings in the Canadian Junior League British Columbia Hockey League . The defender then spent three years in the Western Hockey League for the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Prince Albert Raiders . During this period he was selected in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft in the sixth round as a total of 137th player by the Los Angeles Kings , for whom he never played. Instead, he appeared in the following seven years for the Lowell Lock Monsters , Manchester Monarchs , Bridgeport Sound Tigers and Norfolk Admirals in the American Hockey League (AHL), as well as the Trenton Titans in the ECHL .

For the 2006/07 season , Seeley received a contract with Duisburger Füchsen from the German Ice Hockey League , for which he scored two goals in 48 games and provided 17 templates. He then moved to the Austrian Ice Hockey League , where he was on the ice for one season each for the Vienna Capitals and the EHC Linz . For the 2009/10 season , the Canadian was finally committed by the Croatian Erste Bank Eishockey Liga newcomer KHL Medveščak Zagreb , for whom he scored a goal in a total of 39 games and provided six assists. He then spent another year with the Belfast Giants in Northern Ireland before ending his active career.

In 2015 he was introduced as the first head coach of the newly formed Manchester Monarchs from the ECHL . He held this position for three years before he rose within the organization to the Ontario Reign from the AHL and took on the role of General Manager .
