Trevor Smith (born February 8, 1985 in Ottawa , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the San Antonio Rampage in the American Hockey League since July 2018 .
Career
Trevor Smith began his active career as a hockey player in the 2003/04 season with the Quesnel Millionaires in the junior league BCHL . In his debut season, he completed 44 games for the millionaires and scored 47 points scorer . The following season Smith joined the Omaha Lancers in the United States Hockey League and reached a total of 72 points in his only season for the team in 65 games. The following year Smith began studying at the University of New Hampshire and went on the ice for their ice hockey team in Hockey East . After he was never drafted , the left-shooter signed on April 2, 2007 as a free agent with the New York Islanders . As a result, Smith was parked with their farm team , the Bridgeport Sound Tigers , in the American Hockey League and completed eight games for the Sound Tigers by the end of the 2006/07 season.
Smith also spent the following season with the team from Bridgeport , Connecticut, and in the same season also played for the Utah Grizzlies in the ECHL . In the course of the following season he made his debut for the New York Islanders in the National Hockey League , when the left-shooter was on the ice in seven games and could score his first goal in the NHL. Since he was denied a regular place with the Islanders, Smith again received a lot of one time with their farm team, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the AHL. After spending the 2009/10 season exclusively in the American Hockey League, Smith was not offered a new contract with the Islanders. On July 2, 2010, he signed a one-year contract with the Anaheim Ducks .
After spending the training camp at the Anaheim Ducks, Smith was sent to the Syracuse Crunch on the second squad reduction . In January 2011 he was transferred to the Columbus Blue Jackets in a transfer business in exchange for Nate Guenin and then sent to the Springfield Falcons farm team . On July 5, 2011, Smith signed a one-year two-way contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning .
In July 2013, he signed a one-year deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs , which was renewed after the season. After two whole two years in Toronto Smith North America left and made a commitment for two years at SC Bern of the National League A . He won the championship title with Bern in 2016, but missed two months of the season due to an elbow operation. He played a total of 18 NLA games for SCB (three goals, two assists).
After a year he left Bern and in early July 2016 signed a two-way contract with the Nashville Predators from the NHL for a period of two years . This was not extended after the end of the summer of 2018, so that at the end of July 2018 he signed a contract with the San Antonio Rampage that was limited to the AHL .
