Trent Hunter (* 5. July 1980 in Red Deer , Alberta ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player , who during his playing career 1997 to 2012 among other 511 games for the New York Islanders and Los Angeles Kings in the National Hockey League on the Has contested the position of the right winger . In 2004, Hunter was a member of the NHL All-Rookie Team .
Career
Trent Hunter began his career as a hockey player with the Prince George Cougars , for whom he was active in the Western Hockey League from 1997 to 2000 . During this time he was selected during the NHL Entry Draft in 1998 in the sixth round as a total of 150 players by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim , for which he never played, however, since Anaheim transferred the attacker to the New York Islanders in March 2000 . In the 2000/01 season Hunter was initially exclusively for their farm team , the Springfield Falcons from the American Hockey League , on the ice before making his debut for the Islanders in the National Hockey League in the Stanley Cup playoffs of the 2001/02 season gave.
During the lockout in the 2004/05 NHL season , Hunter was active for the then Swedish second division club IK Nyköping . On July 28, 2011, he was transferred to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for Brian Rolston . A few days later, they put him on the waiver list together with Colin White and paid off his contract in August 2011. This made Hunter available as an unrestricted free agent. In September 2011 Hunter took part in the training camp of the Los Angeles Kings , where he received a contract for the 2011/12 season in late September 2011 . He then ended his active career in the summer of 2012 at the age of 32.
