John Colin White (born December 12, 1977 in New Glasgow , Nova Scotia ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played 911 games for the New Jersey Devils and San Jose Sharks in the National Hockey League between 1994 and 2012 has denied on the position of defender . The biggest successes of his career were winning the Stanley Cup with the New Jersey Devils in 2000 and 2003 .

Career

Colin White began his career as a hockey player in the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec , in which he was active from 1994 to 1997 for the Titan Collège Français de Laval and Olympiques de Hull . During this time he was selected in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft in the second round as the 49th player overall by the New Jersey Devils . Initially, the defender played for two years from 1997 to 1999 exclusively for the Devils farm team , the Albany River Rats from the American Hockey League . In his rookie season , White won the Stanley Cup with the New Jersey Devils in 2000 . He was able to repeat this victory with the team in 2003 .

The Devils put him on the waiver list together with Trent Hunter in early August 2011 and paid off his contract. This made White available as an unrestricted free agent. On August 3, 2011, he signed a one-year contract worth $ 1 million with the San Jose Sharks . There the defender completed his last professional season in the 2011/12 season before he announced the end of his active career at the age of 34.
