Jeffrey Hamilton (born September 4, 1977 in Englewood , Ohio ) is an American ice hockey player who last played for the HIFK Helsinki in the SM-liiga .
Career
Jeff Hamilton began his career as a hockey player on the Yale University team , where he was active from 1996 to 2001. He then moved to Kärpät Oulu from the Finnish SM-liiga for one season . In August 2002, Hamilton returned to North America , where he signed a contract with the New York Islanders from the National Hockey League as a free agent . After two years in which the attacker only played once for New York in the NHL and was almost exclusively on the ice for their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Bridgeport Sound Tigers , he moved to the AHL before the 2004/05 season. In the 2005/06 season, Hamilton played for the second time in his career in Europe, where he played for Ak Bars Kazan from the Russian Super League , before he ended the season at his ex-club, the New York Islanders. From 2006 to 2008, Hamilton played for one season each with the Chicago Blackhawks and the Carolina Hurricanes before joining the Chicago Wolves from the AHL before the 2008-09 season . On March 5, 2009, the player was bought out of his contract in Chicago by the Toronto Maple Leafs franchise . From August 5, 2009 he was in the National League A at HC Lugano for the 2009/10 season under contract. In the summer of 2010 he completed a training camp at Atlant Mytishchi , but did not get a contract with the KHL. In October 2010 he was hired by the HIFK Helsinki .

For the USA , Hamilton took part in the 2004 World Cup, where he won the bronze medal with the team.
