Peter Vandermeer (born October 14, 1975 in Caroline , Alberta ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Calgary Flames in the National Hockey League since 2008 and plays for their farm team , the Abbotsford Heat , in the American Hockey League .
Career
Pete Vandermeer began his career as a hockey player with the Red Deer Rebels , for which he was active from 1992 to 1996 in the Canadian top junior league Western Hockey League . He then played for a year for Columbus Chill in the East Coast Hockey League . In 1997 he also competed in the professional inline hockey league Roller Hockey International for the Anaheim Bullfrogs and the Buffalo Wings. From 1997 to 2000, the attacker was never active for a long period of time with a team, so he was for Columbus Chill and Richmond Renegades in the ECHL, the BC Icemen in the United Hockey League , and the Rochester Americans , Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins and Providence Bruins ran into the American Hockey League .
In the 2000/01 season Vandermeer was on the ice for the AHL team Providence Bruins . It was followed by three years at the League rival Philadelphia Phantoms and one each season with the Grand Rapids Griffins , Hamilton Bulldogs and Hershey Bears before the Canadians in the 2007/08 season, his debut in the National Hockey League for the Phoenix Coyotes were, for he remained unpunished in two games. The rest of the season, however, he spent again in the AHL with San Antonio Rampage , the farm team of the Coyotes. In the summer of 2008 Vandermeer moved to the Calgary Flames , for whose AHL farm team Quad City Flames he scored a total of six scorer points, including five goals, in 80 games in the 2008/09 season . In the 2009-10 season , Vandermeer will play for the new AHL Calgarys farm team, Abbotsford Heat .
