The Chicago Shamrocks were an American ice hockey team from Chicago , Illinois . The team played in the American Hockey Association from 1930 to 1932 .
history
The franchise was founded in 1930 as the American Hockey Association's expansion team . There they filled the void that the Chicago Cardinals , who also played in the AHA, had left in the city after their relocation in 1927. In their premiere season , the team finished fifth in the regular season and missed the playoffs. In the 1931/32 season , the Canadian took over Babe Dye , who was a regular player in the top scorers of the National Hockey Leaguebelonged to the position as head coach at the Shamrocks and led them to the championship title straight away. In the regular season, the Shamrocks took first place and easily qualified for the playoffs. In the playoff semifinals, the team received a bye , in the final they beat the Duluth Hornets with 3-1 wins in the best-of-five series. Despite this success, the franchise was subsequently dissolved.
