The Long Island Cougars were an American ice hockey franchise of the North American Hockey League based in Commack , New York .

history

The Long Island Cougars were founded for the 1973/74 season as a franchise of the North American Hockey League, which was held for the first time. They filled the void created in the city by the dissolution of the Long Island Ducks from the Eastern Hockey League . The Long Iceland Cougars were the farm team of the Chicago Cougars of the World Hockey Association . In their premiere season, the Long Island Cougars immediately reached the final of the playoffs for the Lockhart Cup . In this they were defeated by the Syracuse Blazers in the best-of-seven series with 0: 4 wins. After another season, the team stopped playing again after just two years.
