The Mohawk Valley Comets were an American ice hockey franchise of the North American Hockey League based in Utica , New York .

history

The Mohawk Valley Comets were founded in 1973 as a franchise of the first North American Hockey League . In the four seasons of their existence, the Comets never got beyond the first round of the playoffs for the Lockhart Cup . After the league was dissolved following the 1976/77 season , the Mohawk Valley Comets also stopped playing.

From 1985 to 1987 a team of the same name played in the Atlantic Coast Hockey League .
