The Cape Cod Cubs were an American ice hockey franchise based in South Yarmouth , Massachusetts .

history

The Cape Cod Cubs were founded in 1972 as a franchise of the Eastern Hockey League . After the league was dissolved a year later, the team moved to the North American Hockey League, which was held for the first time . Biggest success of the Cape Cod Cubs was reaching the second round of the playoffs for the Lockhart Cup , in which they were defeated by the Long Island Cougars in the 1973/74 season in the best-of-seven series with 2-4 wins.

For the 1974/75 season , the name of the team was changed to Cape Codders. The following season was very chaotic for the team. On December 28, 1975, the Cape Codders were withdrawn prematurely from the NAHL game operations, but returned to the league in early 1976 before they finally ceased operations on February 18, 1976 before the end of the season.
