The Suncoast Suns were an American ice hockey franchise of the Eastern Hockey League and Southern Hockey League from Saint Petersburg , Florida .

history

The St. Petersburg Suns were added to the Eastern Hockey League in 1971 as an expansion team. After a year, the team changed their name to Suncoast Suns. The Suncoast Suns were included after the temporary dissolution of the Eastern Hockey League for the 1973/74 season as one of six founding teams in the Southern Hockey League . Due to financial problems, the team stopped playing after 31 games and was only able to win seven of these games.
