The Richmond Wildcats were an American ice hockey franchise of the Southern Hockey League (SHL) based in Richmond , Virginia .

The Richmond Wildcats were included in the 1976/77 season as an expansion team in the Southern Hockey League . However, the league was dissolved due to financial problems during the premiere season of the Wildcats and the Wildcats also stopped playing. At that point, they were fifth out of seven places in the SHL. The only coach of the Wildcats was the Canadian ex- NHL player Forbes Kennedy .
