The 1976/77 season was the fourth and final regular season of the Southern Hockey League . During the regular season, the seven teams should play 72 games each, but the league was dissolved for financial reasons during the course of the season and no champions were played.
Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Roanoke Valley Rebels stopped the game.
- The Baltimore Clippers were added to the league as an expansion team.
- The Richmond Wildcats were added to the league as an expansion team.
