The Maine Nordiques were an American ice hockey franchise of the North American Hockey League based in Lewiston , Maine .
history
The Maine Nordiques were founded for the 1973/74 season as a franchise of the North American Hockey League , which was held for the first time . The Maine Nordiques were the farm team of the Quebec Nordiques of the World Hockey Association . The team's greatest success was reaching the final of the playoffs for the Lockhart Cup in the 1976/77 season . In this they were defeated by the Syracuse Blazers in the best-of-seven series with a sweep . Following the season, the North American Hockey League was dissolved and the Maine Nordiques stopped playing.
