Curry County is a county in the state of Oregon in the United States . In 2000 there were 21,137 residents here. The county seat is Gold Beach .

The county covers an area of 5,150 square kilometers; of which 935 square kilometers (18.16 percent) are water.
history
The county was founded on December 18, 1855 and named after George Law Curry , who was governor of the Oregon Territory from 1853 to 1859 .

As of the 2000 census , the county had a population of 21,137. There were 9,543 households and 6,183 families. The population density was 5 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 92.89% white, 0.15% African American, 2.14% Native American, 0.70% Asian, 0.11% residents from the Pacific island area and 1.11% from others ethnic groups; 2.90% were from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 3.60% of the population.
Of the 9,543 households, 20.90% had children and adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 54.50% were married couples living together, 7.20% were single mothers. 35.20% were not families. 29.70% were single households and 14.70% had someone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.19 and the average family size was 2.66.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 19.20% of residents under 18 years of age, 4.80% between 18 and 24 years of age, 20.00% between 25 and 44 years of age, 29.40% between 45 and 64 years of age 26.60% were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 49 years. For every 100 females there were 96.60 males, and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 94.80 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 30,117 , and the median income for a family is $ 35,627. Males had a median income of $ 31,772 versus $ 22,416 for females. The per capita income was $ 18,138. 12.20% of the population and 9.70% of families are below the poverty line. 13.60% of them were under 18 years of age and 10.60% were 65 years of age or older.
