history

Náměšť na Hané Castle

Count Ferdinand Bonaventura Harrach (1708–1778) had Namiescht Castle built on a hill in the years 1760–1763. To distinguish an older Renaissance chateau that is located in the village, it is called "Horní zámek" ( Upper Castle ). It is surrounded by a circular park, to which linden trees lead from four directions. From 1780–1916 it was owned by Count Kinsky , after which it belonged to the Ottahal family until it was expropriated in 1945.

The main building with a mansard roof is characterized by contemporary French architecture. Individual interiors are decorated with mirror ceilings with a rocaille and plant decoration. In addition to a collection of paintings, historical carriages of the Olomouc bishops and archbishops are on display.
