history

Franz Karl Graf von Liechtenstein-Kastelkorn , who inherited the rule of Hertwigswaldau in 1684 , had a baroque palace built in Weißwasser a little later. It was first mentioned in writing in 1691 in the Hertwigswaldauer Urbar as a knight's seat.

The following owners were from 1709 Jakob Ernst von Liechtenstein-Kastelkorn , from 1747 Karl Otto Graf von Salm and Neuburg , from 1766 Karl von Salm and Neuburg and from 1784 his three daughters. This separated the Good White water (with the market White Water , village White Water and the village of Rosary ) in 1794 by the Prussian domination Hertwigswaldau off and sold it to Anton Count von Schlegenberg that his son there in 1802 Otto von Haugwitz inherited. He left the estate to Wenzel and Anton von Haugwitz in 1809 , who overindebted it. In 1818 the cavalry master Ludwig Graf d'Ambly acquired the estate in a bidding process . From 1837 he was followed by his widow Bettina. Their sons Joseph and Alexander d'Ambly sold the castle to Princess Marianne of Orange-Nassau in 1853 . The latter had the castle completely rebuilt in 1854 and increased by one floor.

After the death of her mother, Princess Alexandrine of Prussia inherited the Weißwasser Palace in 1883. In 1906 it fell to her daughter Charlotte zu Reuss-Köstritz , née Duchess of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. They sold the castle in 1917 to the married couple Josef and Frieda Kutz, who also bought the Krautenwalde estate and the Wildschützer Forst. Other owners were Max Weiss from 1934 and Johannes Graf von Welczeck jun. During the Second World War.

After the end of the Second World War, the castle was expropriated and nationalized. In the 1980s the castle became the seat of the District Office for Public Health. Today it is used as a psychiatric clinic “Marianne of Orange” ( Psychiatrická nemocnice Marianny Oranžské ). It is surrounded by a park.
