Palárikovo (until 1948 Slovak "Slovenský Meder"; German rarely Obermarkt , Hungarian Tótmegyer ) is a municipality in southwest Slovakia , 88 km away from Bratislava in the Danube lowlands and has about 4400 inhabitants.
structure
The community is divided into the eponymous capital and the settlements Čiky and Ľudovítov . The settlements of Kerestúr , Žofia and Jur , which have existed for a long time , no longer appear as independent units. The village has around 4400 inhabitants, 96.7% of whom are of Slovak and 2.1% of Hungarian descent (2001).

history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1248. It was established in 1948 in honor of the Slovak priest, journalist and dramatist Ján Palárik in Palárikovo renamed.
Since 2000, Palárikovo has been the first municipality in Slovakia to introduce the international concept “ Zero Waste - route determination to zero waste”.
