Komjatice (Hungarian Komját ) is a large municipality in Okres Nové Zámky within the Nitriansky kraj in Slovakia .
The place is located in the Danube lowlands on the Malá Nitra river (represents the old course of the Nitra river ), the center of the village is at an altitude of 130 m nm . Komjatice is accessible via the main road 64 and the Nové Zámky – Prievidza railway and is about 8 km north from Šurany , 18 km north of Nové Zámky and 19 km south of Nitra .
Komjatice was first mentioned in writing in 1256 as Kamnati .
Until 1918 the place in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary , after which it came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia . 1938-45 he was again in Hungary because of the First Vienna Arbitration .
According to the 2001 census (4207 inhabitants), the population consists of 98.1% Slovaks, 0.7% Magyars, 0.5% Czechs and others. Almost all residents (95.1%) stated their denomination as Roman Catholic.
