Komoča (until 1948 Slovak "Kamoča"; Hungarian Kamocsa ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with 960 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) that the Nové Zámky District , a circle of Nitriansky kraj heard.
geography
The municipality is located in the Slovakian Danube lowlands on the left bank of the Waag , just below the new confluence of the Nitra into the river. The center of the village lies at an altitude of 110 m nm and is six kilometers from Kolárovo and 12 kilometers from Nové Zámky .
Neighboring municipalities are Kolárovo (exclave Vážsky klin ) and Zemné in the north, Andovce in the northeast, Nové Zámky in the east, Nesvady in the southeast, Kolárovo in the south and Dedina Mládeže in the west.
history
The current municipal area was settled in the Neolithic. There are finds from the Lengyel culture , from the Latène and Roman times, as well as the remains of a settlement from the 10th and 11th centuries.
Komoča was first mentioned in writing as Kamacha in 1416 and was owned by several noble families, including the Csúzy family . In the 16th century the village became deserted, but settled again before 1658. In the 18th century, families like Amadé and Hunyady owned local estates . In 1715 there were 23 households in the village, in 1787 the village had 95 houses and 850 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 201 houses and 1,380 inhabitants who were employed as farmers and craftsmen. In 1856 almost the entire village fell victim to a fire, in 1903 it was ravaged by floods.
Until 1918/1919 the place in Komorn County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. Due to the First Vienna Arbitration Award , he was again in Hungary from 1938 to 1945.
In 1947 and 1948 48 Slovak families from Hungary were settled in Komoča.

According to the 2011 census, Komoča had 918 residents, including 689 Magyars , 158 Slovaks and nine Czechs . One resident indicated a different ethnic group and 61 residents gave no information about the ethnic group .
503 residents committed to the Reformed Church, 216 residents to the Roman Catholic Church, eight residents to the Evangelical Church AB, four residents to the Greek Catholic Church, three residents each to the Jehovah's Witnesses and three residents to the Evangelical Methodist Church and one resident each to the Baptists and Pentecostalism; one resident professed a different denomination. 97 residents had no denomination and 81 residents had no denomination.

traffic
Second order road 563 (short II / 563) runs through Komoča between Nové Zámky and Kolárovo; A 3rd order road branches off in the local area towards Zemné. There is no direct rail connection, the nearest train station with regular passenger traffic is in Nové Zámky, on the Bratislava – Budapest railway line .
