Veľké Lovce (Slovak until 1948 "Lót" - until 1927 "Nový Lot"; Hungarian Újlót - until 1900 Nagylót ) is a municipality in Slovakia in the Nové Zámky district . It is 8 km from the Podhájska Thermal Bath and about 20 km from Nové Zámky . A ruin of the Pauline monastery Máriačalád (Mary's family) belongs to the cadastre of the village. The Lovčiansky brook flows through the village .
history
It was first mentioned in a document in 1236. The historical region was Tekov in the Kingdom of Hungary ,
Until 1919 it belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary in Bars County , after which it came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia . Due to the First Vienna Arbitration , it belonged again to Hungary from 1938-45 and has been part of today's Slovakia since 1993.
The population is 2081 (December 31, 2006). Of these, Slovaks - 85.57%, Hungarians - 9.85% and Gypsies - 4.01%. 84.82% believed in the Roman Catholic Church, other religions are Reformers (Calvinists) - 10.37%, without denomination - 2.73% and Evangelical - 0.33% of the residents.
