history

Today's municipal area has been inhabited since the Neolithic Age, with finds from the Bandkeramischen culture and settlements from the Bronze, Latène and Roman times as well as a Slavic settlement from the Moravian Empire .

The exact year of foundation is not known, the first written mention comes from the year 1421 in the form of Ondod . The first proven landlord was Duke Ctibor , who in 1431 took out the place from the Šurany estate in a document and donated it to the provost of Neustadt an der Waag and thus to the Beckov castle . In the 16th century part of the estate came to the Bánffys and later to the Nyári family . At a time that is not exactly known, but certainly in the 18th century, the settlement came back to the Šurany estate. In 1828 there were 77 houses and 542 inhabitants who were employed in agriculture.

Until 1918/1919, the place in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. Due to the First Vienna Arbitration Award , he was again in Hungary from 1938 to 1945.

In 1948 the old name Andód , which may have been derived from the name of the landlord Amadé or the Szegi-Andai family, was Slovakized to Andovce .
