Mojzesovo (until 1948 Slovak "Izdeg" - to 1927 "Ezdeg"; Hungarian Özdöge - older Özdög ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with a population of 1,337 (December 31, 2019) that the Nové Zámky District , a circle of Nitriansky kraj , heard.
geography
The municipality is located in the Slovak Danube lowlands on the left bank of the Nitra . Foothills of the Žitavská pahorkatina hills extend into the municipality and there are some vineyards to the north of the village. The center of the village is at an altitude of 130 m nm and is nine kilometers from Šurany and 22 kilometers from Nové Zámky .
Neighboring municipalities are Černík in the north, Maňa in the east, Úľany nad Žitavou in the south, Šurany in the southwest and Komjatice in the west.
history
According to archaeological research, around 4000 BC there was BC ( Neolithic ) a settlement of the linear ceramic culture . Other finds date from the Hallstatt period and from the 8th century, when there was a Slavic settlement.
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1273 as Izdegey and initially belonged to a certain Pethen , then to the estate of Gýmeš Castle . Other landowners were Matthäus Csák in 1302, after the dissolution of Csák's province directly the Hungarian crown, in 1386 the Forgách family , in the 16th century Esdeghy , Károlyi and Rudnyánszky . In 1828 there were 81 houses and 576 inhabitants who lived from agriculture and tobacco growing.
Until 1918/1919, the place in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. Due to the First Vienna Arbitration Award , he was again in Hungary from 1938 to 1945.
In 1948 the old name Izdeg was replaced by Mojzesovo , a name created after the Bishop Štefan Moyzes from Neusohl .
population
According to the 2011 census, Mojzesovo had 1,338 inhabitants, of which 1,292 were Slovaks and one each Magyar and Czech. 44 residents gave no information in this regard. 1250 inhabitants declared themselves to be the Roman Catholic Church and two inhabitants each to the Protestant Church AB and the Greek Catholic Church. 24 residents had no denomination and the denomination was not determined for 60 residents.
