history

Church in Rastislavice

For centuries, today's municipality was part of the Komjati estate , which had its seat in the neighboring town of Komjatice. So an old settlement was mentioned in 1256 as part of the same. In the 16th and especially in the 17th century the area was exposed to the Turkish influence, between 1660 and 1685 there was no settlement at all, only a Schindanger for dead cattle and horses. Then the settlement was rebuilt under the leadership of the Forgách family , first by local residents, then between 1714 and 1716 by immigrants from the Moravian border region ( Veselí nad Moravou , Uherské Hradiště ). In addition to the old place Degeš , the settlements Kalvín and Nový Degeš emerged in quick succession . In 1740 all three settlements had a total of 140 inhabitants. In the 19th century the inhabitants were employed as beekeepers, farmers, cattle keepers and as workers in two distilleries and a brick factory. The first school was founded in 1858.

Until 1918/1919, the place in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. In 1928, after a land reform, Slovaks from Yugoslavia, Romania and the rest of Slovakia came to the later municipality. In the same year the construction of the new school building began, 1932–34 the construction of the Protestant church followed. In 1936 the present municipality was created by outsourcing from Komjatice. Between 1938 and 1945 Degeš was right on the border with Hungary, which was enlarged after the First Vienna Arbitration .

In 1948 the name Degeš, derived from the Hungarian, was renamed to Rastislavice. The current place name is reminiscent of the early medieval Moravian prince Rastislav .
