Ján Palárik (born April 27, 1822 in Raková , Kingdom of Hungary , today Slovakia ; † December 7, 1870 in Majcichov , Austria-Hungary ) was a Slovak playwright and publicist. He wrote under the pen name Beskydov .

Life

Palárik was born into a carpenter family. He studied at the grammar schools of Sillein and Kecskemét , then theology in Gran , Pressburg and Tyrnau . After his ordination he was chaplain in Starý Tekov , Vindšacht (today Štiavnické Bane ), Schemnitz , Pest and finally in Majcichov .

Works

In addition to the works listed below, Palárik has also published the magazine Cyrill a Metod and has written articles and textbooks (religion, reading books, grammar) for Slovak schools.
