Raková (Hungarian Trencsénrakó - until 1907 Rakova , Polish Rakowa ) is a municipality in north-western Slovakia .
location
It is located in the valley of the Kysuca on the bank of the river and its tributaries Raková and Trstená , between the Javorník Mountains and Turzovská vrchovina Mountains . The town of Čadca is located 4 km east of the municipality.
Around the main town are some small settlements (in Slovak, kopanice ).
history
The place was first mentioned as Rakova in 1658 (1635?) . There are two churches in the village: St. Mary from 1874 and the other St. Cyril and Method from 1991. There are also two chapels.
