Radôstka (until 1927 in Slovak "Radôska"; in Hungarian Radoska - until 1907 Radvoszka ) is a municipality in the north-center of Slovakia with 801 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to the Okres Čadca , part of the Žilinský kraj .
geography
The community is located in the Kysucká vrchovina mountains in the narrow valley of the Radôstka brook , which flows into the Bystrica at the lower end of the village . The 13.17 km² large municipal area is covered by brown forest floors. The center of the village lies at an altitude of 487 m nm and is 19 kilometers from Čadca and 32 kilometers from Žilina .
The community actually consists of many individual settlements scattered in the valley (in Slovak, kopanice ). These are: Brníkovia, Ďuricovia, Fúskovia, Horcovia, Hulákovia, Jaškovci, Kadášovia, Kalužníci, Klieščovia, Krasotín, Labantovia, Mazúrovia, Meriadov, Skaličanovia, Sobolčinovia and Vrančinovia.
history
Radôstka arose in the early 17th century in a clearing in what was then the municipality of Stará Bystrica and was first mentioned in 1662 as Radwosztka . The village belonged to the Strečno manor . In 1787 there were 68 houses and 443 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 85 houses and 645 inhabitants.
population
According to the 2011 census, 840 people lived in Radôstka, 821 of them Slovaks and two Czechs. 17 residents did not provide any information. 821 residents confessed to the Roman Catholic Church, one resident each to the Protestant and Orthodox Church and one resident of a different denomination. With 16 inhabitants, the denomination is not determined.

Infrastructure
The basic infrastructure is partially developed: there are water pipes and an almost complete gas pipe, there is no sewer system or connection to a sewage treatment plant. The nearest post office is in Stará Bystrica, there is a kindergarten and a primary school (up to fourth grade) in the village.
