Klubina (Hungarian Kelebény - until 1907 Klubina ) is a municipality in the north-center of Slovakia with 535 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to Okres Čadca , part of Žilinský kraj .

geography

The municipality is located in the valley of the Bystrica river between the Kysucká vrchovina mountain range south and the Kysucké Beskydy mountain range northeast of the village. The almost 15.6 km² large municipal area is wooded from the valley and covered by brown forest floors. The center of the village lies at an altitude of 450  m nm and is 15 kilometers from Čadca and 32 kilometers from Žilina .

history

The name Klubina was mentioned for the first time in 1417 in a document listing the boundaries of the town of Krásno nad Kysucou , referring to a brook. A year later, surrounding hills are called Kulbuzca . A settlement was established in the 16th century as part of the Wallachian colonization of the Kysuce region , but it was not mentioned as a municipality until 1662. It belonged to the estate of the Strečno Castle and seven farms were attached to the village. In the late 17th and 18th centuries there was a glassworks in the village.

In 1784 there were 60 houses and 344 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 16 houses and 361 inhabitants. The main sources of income were agriculture and forestry, parts of the population worked as shepherds.

According to the 2011 census, there were 537 inhabitants in Klubina, 510 of them Slovaks and 2 Czechs. 25 residents gave no answer. 509 inhabitants supported the Roman Catholic Church, 2 inhabitants joined the Greek Catholic Church, 1 inhabitant joined the Evangelical Church AB and 1 inhabitant was of another denomination. 4 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 20 residents was not determined.

Infrastructure

In Klubina there is a kindergarten, a four-class elementary school and a library. The nearest post office is in Stará Bystrica . Water and gas pipes are available, but there is no sewer system or connection to a sewage treatment plant. The 2nd order road 520 ( Krásno nad Kysucou - Lokca ) runs through the village .
