history
Today's place was created during the colonization of the area in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. As early as 1325, a hill called Holesne is mentioned there , and in 1435 as Wyrch Olessna . Olešná originated in the then area of the city of Turzovka and was later spun off. As an independent community, it is mentioned for the first time in 1580 as Olessna ; other sources give 1619 as the earliest mention. Olešná belonged to the Bitsch estate , which was once owned by the Thurzos .
