Dlhá nad Kysucou is a municipality in the north-center of Slovakia with 612 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to the Okres Čadca , part of the Žilinský kraj .
geography
The municipality is located in the Javorník Mountains by several streams that are part of the Kysuca river system . The municipal area of 12.26 km² is covered by brown forest floors and scattered forests. The center of the village lies at an altitude of 520 m nm and is three kilometers from Turzovka and 17 kilometers from Čadca .
history
The community was founded in 1954, before the associated individual settlements were part of the communities Turzovka (1949–1954) and Dlhé Pole (until 1949). Parts were also in the municipal areas of Divina and Nesluša .
population
According to the 2011 census, 633 inhabitants lived in Dlhá nad Kysucou, including 588 Slovaks, 5 Ukrainians, 2 Poles and 1 Czech. 37 residents did not provide any information. 566 residents professed to the Roman Catholic Church, 8 residents to the Orthodox Church, 2 residents to the Greek Catholic Church and 1 resident to the Czechoslovak-Hussite Church. 6 residents were non-denominational and the denomination of 50 residents was not determined.
