The Kysuca (German very rarely Kischütz ) is a 66 kilometers long right tributary of the Waag in northwest Slovakia .

The name of the historical region of Kysuce is derived from the name of the river.

The river has its source in the Javorníky Mountains near Makov and runs eastwards to Turzovka and Čadca . Shortly after Čadca the course changes to the south and leads via Krásno nad Kysucou and Kysucké Nové Mesto to the confluence at Žilina near Budatín Castle .
