Dlhé Pole (to 1927 Slovak "Dlhépole" or "Duhopol"; Hungarian Trencsénhosszúmező - until 1907 Dlhepole ) is a municipality in the north of Slovakia with a population of 1,898 (December 31, 2019) that the Žilina District , part of the kraj Žilinský belongs .

geography

The village is located in the Javorníky Mountains in the valley of the Dlhopoľka brook , a right tributary of the Váh . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 392  m nm and is 14 kilometers from Bytča and 16 kilometers from Žilina .

Administratively, the municipality is divided into the municipality parts Dlhé Pole, Forbaky-Klukany, Kravárska and Stolečné. In addition to the official parts, there are other individual farms / small settlements in and around the valley.

history

Dlhé Pole was first mentioned in writing in 1320 as Longus Campus ( Langenfeld ) and belonged to the estate of Hričov Castle , later of Großbitsch. In the area of ​​today's municipality, wire binding has been widespread since the beginning of the 18th century and the residents worked as wire ties both in the immediate vicinity and abroad. The other part of the population was employed in agriculture, sheep breeding as well as in mills, saws and other crafts. In 1828 there are 404 houses and 3114 inhabitants.

In 1948, part of the individual farms that today form the municipality of Dlhá nad Kysucou were spun off .
