Lutiše (until 1927 Slovak also "Lutyša"; Hungarian Lótos - until 1907 Lutisa or Lutissa ) is a municipality in northern Slovakia with 724 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in Okres Žilina , a district of Žilinský kraj .

geography

The village is located in the heart of the Kysucká vrchovina mountain range in the valley of the Lutišský creek . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 560  m nm and is 25 kilometers from Čadca and 27 kilometers from Žilina .

The municipality is made up of 18 small settlements / hamlets (in Slovak : Kopanice ): Adamovia, Ďurišovia, Ježikovia, Kraviarka, Kubovia, Lukáčovia, Malichovia, Melišíkovia, Melišovia, Mišovia, Novákovia, Pilýčredovia, Turčíkovia, Sčýčredovia, Shýčredovia, Sčýčredieovia, Sčýčredovia, Sčýčredovia, Účankovia, urišovia, Ježikovia, urišovia, Sihýčredovia, Úurišovia, urišovia and Účíkovia .

Neighboring communities are Radôstka in the north, Stará Bystrica and Nová Bystrica in the northeast, Terchová ( Horná Tižina district ) in the east, Belá and Lysica in the south, Horný Vadičov in the west and Povina in the northwest.

history

The area was mentioned by name in a royal deed of donation in 1438, in which a place called Vrcholište is recorded. However, details only come from the 17th century, when a place called Litisse was mentioned in 1662 , which was based on the pattern of Wallachian colonization. The village belonged to the territory of the Strečno Castle . In 1784 the village had 122 houses, 128 families and 740 inhabitants, four years later a rectory was built in Lutiše. In 1828 there were 150 houses and 1,040 inhabitants who were employed as lumberjacks, farmers and cattle keepers. The first school was founded in 1890.

Until 1918 the place in Trenčín County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. In 1928 parts of the community fell victim to a major fire.

population

According to the 2011 census, there were 761 residents in Lutiše, of which 755 were Slovaks and one Magyar , one Russian and one Czech . Three residents did not provide any information about their ethnicity .

746 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church and one resident to the Jehovah's Witnesses; four residents professed a different denomination. Four residents were non-denominational and the denomination of six residents was not determined.
