Belá (until 1927 in Slovak "Belá pri Varíne"; Hungarian Bella ) is a place and a municipality in the Okres Žilina of the Žilinský kraj in northern Slovakia . The number of inhabitants on December 31, 2009 was 3,011 people.
geography
The municipality is located at the eastern end of the Žilinská kotlina ("Silleiner Basin") between the Little Fatra in the south and the Kysucká vrchovina in the north, at the confluence of the Beliansky potok and Varínka brooks , the latter of which flows into the Waag a few kilometers west . The center of the village, at an altitude of 453 m nm , is 18 kilometers from Žilina and the place is on the national road 583.
The district Kubíková, which is on the way to Stará Bystrica , also belongs to the municipality .
history
The place is first mentioned in writing in 1378 as Bela .
