Teplička nad Váhom (until 1927 in Slovak "Teplička"; in Hungarian Vágtapolca - until 1907 Teplicska ) is a municipality in the central Slovak Kraj Žilina .
geography
It is situated in Zilinsky boiler ( Žilinská kotlina ) on the Vah at an altitude of 356 m at the foot of Kysuce heights ( Kysucká vrchovina ) about 5 km from Žilina removed.
history
The first written mention was in 1267, as Toplucha . The name is said to indicate thermal springs , which were probably destroyed in the 17th century.
Between 1980 and 1990 it was part of the city of Žilina.
Attractions
A Renaissance castle from the end of the 16th century and the Church of St. Martin from 1589 are worth seeing. The mummified remains of the Hungarian Countess Zsófia Bosnyák (1609–1644), the former mistress of the Strečno Castle , lay in this small church the remains were set on fire on April 2, 2009 by a mentally ill man and ultimately cremated.
economy
Part of the large Kia factory of Kia Motors Slovakia is located in the municipality .
traffic
There is a train station on the Košice – Žilina railway line , which crosses the Waag here.
