Višňové (Hungarian Felsővisnyó - until 1907 Visnyó ) is a Slovak municipality in the Žilina district , in the southeast of the Žilinská kotlina basin at the foot of the Little Fatra , about 10 km from Žilina and is traversed by a stream called Višňovský potok .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1393. The place under the rule of Lietava Castle is mentioned as possessio Wysnew . At times the village also belonged to the Strečno Castle . Between 1980 and 1990 the municipality was part of the northwestern town of Žilina .
