Kotrčiná Lúčka (until 1927 in Slovak "Kotrč Lúčka"; in Hungarian Kaszarét - until 1907 Kotrcslúcska or Kotrcslucska ) is a municipality in northern Slovakia with 545 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in Okres Žilina , a district of Žilinský kraj .

geography
The community is located in the source area of the Kotrčiná brook in a small basin on the southern edge of the Kysucká vrchovina mountain range . The center of the village is at an altitude of 560 m nm and is 13 kilometers from Žilina .
Neighboring municipalities are Dolný Vadičov in the north, Horný Vadičov in the east, Nededza and Teplička nad Váhom in the south and Žilina (district of Zástranie ) in the west.
history
Kotrčiná Lúčka was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1439 as Kothorchyna Luchka and bears the name of the founder and instigator Kotrš (in contemporary sources Kotus ), a citizen of Sillin . The village belonged to the domain of the Varín castle . In 1469 the place was called Luczka and consisted of 11 houses. In 1784 a total of 186 inhabitants lived in 35 families in Kotrčiná Lúčka, the village belonged to the parish of Teplička. In 1828 there were 38 houses and 271 residents, who were mainly employed as farmers.
Until 1918 the place in Trenčín County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Kotrčiná Lúčka had 428 inhabitants, including 427 Slovaks . One resident reported a different ethnic group .
398 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church and two residents supported the Evangelical Church. AB 15 residents were non-denominational and 13 residents had no denomination.
