Straža (German: Oberstrascha , also Wardenegg ) is a municipality in the Dolenjska / Lower Carniola region in Slovenia .
Location and inhabitants
2827 people live in the total community, which consists of eleven settlements. The main town Straža, which was called Gorenja Straža until 1988, has 1961 inhabitants and is located at 201 m. The municipality is located west of Novo mesto ( Rudolfswerth ) on the Krka ( Gurk ) river.

history
The municipality separated from Novo mesto on March 1, 2006 and has since formed its own independent municipality . Until the end of the Habsburg Empire, Straža belonged to the Kronland Carniola , although the place had been part of the judicial district of Rudolfswerth .
