Dolenjske Toplice (German Töplitz ) is a municipality in Slovenia near Novo mesto . It is located in the Dolenjska (Lower Carniola) region on the Sušica River , which flows into the Krka 2 km north and has 3,494 inhabitants. The main town Dolenjske Toplice alone has 740 inhabitants.

The place is a health resort and known for its thermal bath , which was founded in 1658 by the Counts of Auersperg . It is one of the oldest medicinal baths in Europe. The place was first mentioned in the 13th century.

A small area in the south of the municipality around Kočevske Poljane (Pöllandl), the northern part of the valley Moschnitze (Črmošnjiško-poljanska dolina), forms part of the historical Gottschee region . Some people here still speak the German dialect Gottscheerisch . The Gottscheer Association, which publishes the German / Slovenian-language magazine "Bakh-Pot", is based in the city.
