Jasenové (Hungarian Jeszenye - until 1907 Jaszenó ) is a municipality in northern Slovakia with 617 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the Okres Žilina , a district of the Žilinský kraj .
geography
The municipality is located in the southwest part of the Žilinská kotlina basin on the middle reaches of the Rajčianka . The center of the village is at an altitude of 440 m nm and is three kilometers from Rajec and 19 kilometers from Žilina .
Neighboring municipalities are Zbyňov in the north, Kľače in the east, Rajec in the south, Malá Čierna in the west and Súľov-Hradná in the north-west.
history
Jasenové was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1407 as Yesenow and was in the territory of the Lietava Castle . At that time, István , Lambert's son , judge of Rajec, was the tester of Jasenové. In 1598 there were 21 houses in the village, in 1828 there were 52 houses and 381 inhabitants who were employed as shepherds and farmers.
Until 1918, the place in Trenčín County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then belonged to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Jasenové had 606 inhabitants, including 584 Slovaks , two Czechs and one Moravian . 19 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity .
538 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, two residents to the Evangelical Church AB and one resident each to the Old Catholic Church and one to the Orthodox Church; five residents professed a different denomination. 14 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 50 residents has not been determined.
