The Adler von Krautsand is a historic mizzen man who is berthed in Carolinensiel today.
history
The ship was built in 1913 by JH Jacobs in Moorrege . It was one of the last Elbewer that the shipyard built, and carried the hull number 80. It was named by the first owner, K. Haack, after his first home port on Krautsand . In 1924, the freighter with the two folding masts received an engine. The hull was later stretched to more than double its original length and the former Ewer was used as a barge.
1977 the ship should be scrapped; instead it was dismantled under the name Ingorata in Hamburg to the Besanewer until the hull was finally reconstructed in its original state. After the death of the owner in 2005, the ship became the property of Bernadette and Dieter Pogoda.
The Eagle of Krautsand had changed at this time several times name and home port. At times she was in Beidenfleth ; which name she had at the time seems to be unknown. The phase as Hans Walter II in Grünendeich was apparently followed by an episode as Tin Whistle in Hamburg . As Ingorata , the Ewer probably had Carolinensiel as his home port.
