The Immanuel-Kant-Gymnasium is a high school in Hiltrup , the largest district of Münster . The school is named after the German philosopher Immanuel Kant . With 23 subjects, the grammar school offers the largest range of courses and subjects in Münster . The Immanuel-Kant-Gymnasium has been awarded the European School seal of approval by the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia since 2007 .
history
The Immanuel-Kant-Gymnasium was founded in 1974 as the first urban high school in the south of Münster. A rapidly growing population in Münster made it essential to found a school. For the first four years, the first year with 67 students and the following three years had to be taught in an existing building near the village center of the then still independent municipality of Hiltrup. After the completion of the building specially built for the grammar school, the school moved to the building a little further south in the Hiltrup school center. The first expansion followed as early as 1980, adding a new scientific wing and an upper level wing. In order to do justice to the growing number of schoolchildren, the building was expanded in 1998 with a new third floor and a forum. These innovations also brought multimedia rooms into the building. Alexander Klaws sang in the school band ("Kant-Connection"), and Daniel Bahr attended high school.

On 9 October 2007, the Kant Gymnasium, together with 15 other schools from North Rhine-Westphalia as one of the first schools in this state to a European School appointed. An important part of the school philosophy is the exchange with students from France, Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands and the USA.
Profiles
In the lower secondary level of the Immanuel-Kant-Gymnasium there are three profiles to choose from, which help determine the further school career.
- The bilingual lessons are in the subjects geography, biology and history and are aimed at special linguistic support in English. This profile should enable the acquisition of a bilingual diploma at the end of the school career .
- The MINT profile (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology) aims to promote interests and inclinations in the mathematical, scientific and technical field.
- The classic high school profile (K profile) meets the requirements of a high school education program, as it includes additional lessons in the core subjects German, English and mathematics in the timetable.
Puquio aid project
“To improve the living conditions of disadvantaged children in Perú”, the Puquio aid project was initiated by students from the Immanuel-Kant-Gymnasium in Münster.
Participation in the project of the "Institute for School Social Pedagogy"
The Immanuel-Kant-Gymnasium takes part in the project of the “Institute for School Social Pedagogy” ( ISSP ) of the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster. This is to ensure that “individual, family and social impairments of students” that lead to “difficulties in learning, performance and behavior” are recognized and that the students' problems can be solved.
