Soeren Fenner

Sören Fenner (born November 14, 1967 in Dortmund ) is a German actor and founder and managing owner of Theapolis . He volunteers to create a better working environment for performing artists and the arts. He lives in Hamburg .

Life

Sören Fenner grew up in Lübeck. After graduating from high school in 1986 at the Johanneum zu Lübeck and community service at the University Hospital Lübeck, he completed his training as a performing artist at the Stage School of Music, Dance and Drama in Hamburg , which he graduated with a diploma in 1991.

From 1992 to 1994 he worked as an actor at the Landestheater Coburg . He then performed as a freelance musical performer. So he played u. a. the "Lumière" in the European premiere of the Disney musical Beauty and the Beast at the Raimundtheater in Vienna (1995–1997), the "Utterson" in Jekyll & Hyde at the Musical Theater Bremen (2000/2001) and taped the "Don Lockwood" , the leading role in Singin 'in the Rain , at the Hildesheim Theater and at the Dresden State Operetta (2001/2002). He was also a guest soloist in numerous musical productions in Germany and abroad.

theaterjobs.de / Theapolis

In 2000 Fenner developed the internet platform theaterjobs.de , on which theaters can advertise their vacancies free of charge. Fenner recognized the need for this first theater job market on the Internet during the course of his career as a freelance performer. Many theaters did not advertise their vacancies publicly, but gave them "secretly". In the meantime, theaterjobs.de is the most extensive theater job market in German-speaking countries. On February 1, 2016, the platform was renamed Theapolis.

Teaching

From 2005 to 2016, Sören Fenner was a lecturer for tap dance at the Joop van den Ende Academy in Hamburg. He also prepares the graduates of the Hamburg Drama Studio and the Ludwigsburg Theater Academy for everyday work: presentation, self-marketing, networking, negotiating, the professional environment and types of contracts and activities. He gave seminars at the Liszt School of Music Weimar and at the Bayreuth Dialogues.

Honorary positions

In 2005, Sören Fenner founded the “Theater-Tafel”, a network meeting for theater people in Hamburg and Berlin, together with the director of the Hamburg voice unit, Andreas Lübbers. From the Berliner Theater-Tafel, the State Association of the Free Performing Arts Berlin evolved in 2008

In 2007, Fenner and his brother Christian Fenner founded the website “theaterblogs.de”, which unites various blogs on the subject of “theater”.

From 2008 to 2014 Sören Fenner was a member of the umbrella association for independent theater workers in Hamburg, and from 2010 to 2013 he was an honorary member of the board.

In 2009 Fenner joined the GDBA (Union of German Stage Members) and from 2012 to 2015 was a representative of the freelancers in the North Regional Association and from 2013 to 2015 at the federal level a member of the advisory board for the professional group dance. He was a member of the "AG-Freie" of the GDBA, which campaigned to introduce a minimum wage in guest contract law and to strengthen the rights of freelance theater people, and a member of the "future workshop" of the GDBA, a group of trade union delegates who developed strategies in 2014/15 developed to renew the union. In 2015, after differences with the main board, he resigned from all positions and resigned from the GDBA.

In 2013, Fenner was one of the initiators of the “Coalition of Freie Hamburg”, an association of free Hamburg artists from all fields who advocate a cultural policy that takes greater account of the independent scene: minimum fees for free artists with public funding, inexpensive and sustainable workspaces and the Separation of the areas of art and creative industries.

Sören Fenner has been working in the team of the international art but fair initiative since 2013 . He is a board member of art but fair Deutschland eV The aim of this organization is to produce performing arts under fair conditions: fair remuneration as well as fair working and funding conditions.
