Perrin Manzer Allen

Perrin Manzer Allen (* in Upstate New York ) is an American singer , musician and composer . He lives in Berlin .

Life

Perrin Manzer Allen began his stage career at the age of 13. He played the title role in the Amahl opera and the nightly visitors in his American homeland. A year earlier he had made his debut as a concert pianist in Scandinavia. From then on he pursued his two careers as a musician and stage actor in parallel. In 1988 he received a Bachelor of Music from Boston University in singing and opera. He learned singing from Richard Cassilly, Marlena Malas, Seth Riggs and Judy Nataluci.

From 1988 onwards he played regularly on regional stages in the USA and was involved "off-Broadway" with the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players for two years. He also sang leading roles in American opera houses, including St. Louis , Boston and Long Beach.

Since 1992 he has given regular concerts with the singer Julia Migenes in Europe, Australia and the USA. In 1995 Perrin Manzer Allen moved to Europe and was a member of the original German cast of the musical Les Misérables . He coined the role of Jean Valjean and became the first actor to alternately play the roles of Valjean and Javert. He danced the Berstein Dances by John Neumeier at the Hamburg State Opera .

In 1998 he founded the Anonymous Society with Andrew Wale. The first project of the two was a theater evening based on the songs of Jacques Brel . They also called the piece Anonymous Society . The piece was composed, written and directed by Perrin Manzer Allen and Andrew Wale. The choreography was done by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui .

Anonymous Society won the Barclay's Theater Award Best Musical 2000 for its successful season at the Lyric Hammersmith Theater in London. A year earlier at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe , they received the “Fringe First Award” and the “Total Theater Award for Best Overall Production”. Based on the songs of Morrissey and Johnny Marr , the duo Anonymous Society brought the project Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others to London in July 2005 and were invited to the Dublin Theater Festival.

In 2004 Perrin Manzer Allen was musical director of the German premiere of the musical Mamma Mia in Hamburg. During his time, the Platinum Award-winning Live Cast Album was recorded. He also advised the premieres in Madrid, Moscow, Milan and Paris.

As musical advisor to Stage Entertainment, he was involved in the castings and productions of the musicals Wicked , Beauty and the Beast , Elisabeth , Tanz der Vampire , Dirty Dancing , Aida , The Lion King and Sister Act .

In 2007, his orchestration by Ariel Dorfmans and Eric Woolfsons Dancing Shadows received the "15th Korea Musical Award for the Best Orchestration". This work also received the awards "Best Musical", "Best Choreography", "Best Supporting Actor" and "Best Ensemble".

In 2009 Perrin Manzer Allen worked as a musical supervisor at Spring Awakening in Vienna and Buddy Holly in Essen.
