Seth Riggs

Seth Riggs (born September 19, 1930 in the USA ) is an American voice trainer and founder of Speech Level Singing .

Life

Seth Riggs sang at Washington National Cathedral at the age of nine . As a result, he was taught by top instructors in the American entertainment industry in all areas of the performing arts . He spent ten years on New York Broadway , appeared as a guest artist at the New York City Opera and became a member of various American performing associations, including the Screen Actors Guild .

During this time he also began teaching. Since his method was considered unconventional at the time and was partially rejected, he was expelled from the national association of singing teachers and also lost his jobs at the colleges. He then left New York and opened his own vocal technique school in Los Angeles . He also now gives masterclasses in vocal training colleges and universities throughout the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. He also works with medical professionals on the treatment and prevention of organic and functional voice problems as part of voice therapy.

His students included numerous Grammy winners, 4 winners from the Metropolitan Opera and several Tony (Broadway) winners, among others. a. Natalie Cole , Whoopie Goldberg , Josh Groban , Janet Jackson , Michael Jackson , Anthony Kiedis , Val Kilmer , Sinéad O'Connor , Barbra Streisand , Luther Vandross and Stevie Wonder .

In the late 1990s, Seth Riggs founded an international organization called Speech Level Singing (SLS) with the aim of training singing teachers.

Riggs remarried 15 years after the death of his first wife Kathleen. His wife is Margareta Svensson who became known on Swedish television in a reality show. Riggs had seven children with Kathleen Riggs and one daughter with Margareta Svensson-Riggs. He became a father again at the age of 80.
