Dirk Weiler

Dirk Weiler is a German actor , singer , and musical performer .

Life

Dirk Weiler gained his first stage experience at the Saarland State Theater in Saarbrücken . He completed a musical training at the Folkwang University (today Folkwang University of the Arts ) in Essen and, after successfully completing his degree as a stage actor, a postgraduate course in dance. From 1992 to 1998 he worked as a tap dance teacher at the Folkwang University of the Arts and was a member of the dance theater group around Claudia Lichtblau in Essen.

He lived in New York City from 1998 to 2008, where he studied singing at the Manhattan School of Music , the City College of New York and the Conservatory of Music at Brooklyn College , where he received a Master of Music degree. He completed master classes with Cord Garben and Walter Berry . Also in New York, he completed several years of acting training with Bernice Loren in her "Expressions" Theater School and with Bennes Mardenn , who himself was still a student at the Group Theater . In 1999 he performed with the Cabaret Kollektif at the International Cabaret Festival in Adelaide, Australia. After completing his master's degree, he made guest appearances as a singer and actor in numerous productions in the USA, Europe and Australia. His roles included Macheath in The Threepenny Opera , the Psychiatrist in Weill's Johnny Johnson , Danilo in The Merry Widow , Schaunard in Puccini's La Bohème , Pagageno in The Magic Flute and the title role in the American premiere of Eric Salzmann's opera The True Last Words of Dutch Schultz . He was one of the founders and later Artistic Dirextortion of thedramaloft Inc. , a non-profit organization for entertainment development in New York.

In 2008 he went to London and returned to Germany in 2009. At the Gandersheim Cathedral Festival he was in the operetta Im Weißen Rössl as Dr. Siedler and in the 70s revue And it was summer as Helmut Kaiser. Then followed Wicked in Oberhausen as Frex / Nikidik, Wizard of Oz and as Dr. Dillamonth, Harold Nichols in The Full Monty - All or Not at Theater Dortmund and Anatoly Sergievsky in the musical Chess and also the role of Dr. No in the musical comedy Blond Girl Undercover at the Gandersheim Cathedral Festival. At the Bonn Opera he played an apostle and Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar and was in Oberhausen in various roles in the musical Sister Act . He played Albin / ZaZa in the musical La Cage aux Folles at the Bonn Opera and Bobby Child in the Gershwin musical Crazy for You at the Magdeburg Theater, as well as Harry Frommermann in The Comedian Harmonists at the Gandersheim Cathedral Festival. In the world premiere of the musical Highway to Hellas , he played the main role of Jörg Geissner and at the same time played Petja Trofimow in Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard, also in Bad Gandersheim.

Dirk Weiler also worked as a tap dance teacher, director and song interpretation teacher at schools and universities in Germany, Great Britain and the USA such as the Alvin Ailey School, Steps on Broadway, Bridge for Dance, Rutgers University , Meredith College, Folkwang University of the Arts and Leipzig University of Music .
