Claus Dam

Claus Dam (* 1960 in Copenhagen , Denmark ) is a Danish musical performer who mainly works in German-speaking countries .

Life

Dam completed vocal training from 1982 to 1988 at both the Royal Danish Music Academy and the Academic Opera Copenhagen, from which he graduated with a singing diploma. He had further singing lessons in London (1990) and in New York (1986–1992). He also received private acting lessons .

He initially worked in several musical and operetta productions in Denmark . He sang in Sweeney Todd , South Pacific , Annie get your gun , HMS Pinafore and Graf Boni in the operetta Die Csárdásfürstin . He came to Austria for the first time for the rat man in Freudiana in the Theater an der Wien . He sang the role of Thénardier in Les Misérables for the first time in Germany from 1998–1999 at the Musical Theater Duisburg , where he performed with his compatriots Kasper Holmboe and Kristian Korsholm Vetter . After this engagement he could only be seen on stages in Germany or Austria. In 2002 he played the role of Mr. Schulz in the musical Cabaret at the Capitol Theater in Düsseldorf and at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg . From 2002 to 2003 Duke Max followed in Bavaria in Elisabeth at the Colosseum Theater in Essen . In 2005 he sang King Arthur in the musical Camelot with Jana Werner at the Freilichtspiele Tecklenburg . He also gave a concert there with musical melodies by Cole Porter . From 2005 to 2007 he sang Herr von Unruh in Beauty and the Beast at the Metronome Theater in Oberhausen . From 2007 to 2008 he was the Harry in Mamma Mia! , again at the Colosseum Theater in Essen. From 2009 he was one of the leading actors at the Raimund Theater in Vienna as Emperor Franz Joseph in Rudolf - Affaire Mayerling .

He was awarded the Lyngby Taarbaek Music Prize.

Dam now lives in Cologne with his partner Petter Bjällö .
