Caterina Reminy Scorsone (born October 16, 1981 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Canadian actress .

life and career

Scorsone was born the third of five children. She has two older twin sisters, a younger sister and a brother. At the age of eight she started working as an actress in her home country. She attended the Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts in Toronto where she was in Oklahoma! and several other productions. In 2005 she finished her literature studies with a focus on religion at the University of Toronto and also attended Trinity College . In mid-2006 she moved to the USA .

Scorsone's first television appearance was on the Canadian children's show Mr. Dressup . Here she was a regular guest. The television series with which she achieved her international breakthrough is Missing . There she played the lead role of Jess Mastriani . In the spin-off of the Grey's Anatomy series , Private Practice , she played the character Dr. Amelia Shepherd , sister of Patrick Dempsey's series character in Grey's Anatomy . After she had already embodied her role in two crossovers with the mother series, she was promoted to the main cast of the mother series for the following seasons after a guest role in the 10th season.

Scorsone is married to the singer-songwriter Rob Giles. Their first child, a daughter, was born on July 6, 2012. Her pregnancy was also transferred to her figure in the Private Practice series . In November 2016, the couple's second daughter was born. The couple's third daughter was born in late December 2019. Her third pregnancy was carried over back to her figure.
